Words of God

When I was a kid, Wednesdays were always referred to as hump day.  The day in the middle of the week that was just another school day.  Memories from the last weekend were fading and the next weekend was forever away.  I now find the same to be true.  Wednesday is a day that really doesn’t seem special at all.  I always find I need a little extra lift on Wednesdays, some snippet of Scripture or a quote that gives me pause to redirect my focus on God instead of the mundane tasks we all face during the week, be it work or laundry or errands, to give me a boost into the weekend.  Quiet time is wonderful, but I love finding Scripture throughout my day when I am not studying – sometimes in the least likely of places.

Every Wednesday at A Quiet Chaos, I will post God’s words to give us the boost we all need to make it through to the glorious weekend.

Psalm 1

How well God must like you –

you don’t hang out at Sin Saloon,

you don’t slink along Dead-end Road,

you don’t go to Smart-mouth College.

Instead you thrill to God’s Word,

you chew on Scripture day and night.

you’re a tree replanted in Eden,

bearing fresh fruit every month,

never dropping a leaf,

always in blossom.

you’re not at all like the wicked,

who are mere windblown dust –

without defense in court,

unfit company for innocent people.

God charts the road you take.

The road they take is Skid Row.

Mercy, peace and love be multiplied to you,
